WHY BSR?

What is Body Stress Release?

Body Stress Release is a health profession concerned with unlocking the tension stored in physical structures. BSR assists the body to unlock stored tension, improving communication via the nervous system.

This gentle technique assists the body in its own healing process and brings effective relief from many forms of tension, pain and discomfort caused by the build-up of stress in the body. When the stresses of life, whether mechanical, chemical or mental/emotional, reach the level of overload, the body is no longer able to adapt constructively. The stress becomes locked into the physical structures, causing pain, stiffness, numbness or postural distortions. This stored tension has an impact on the nervous system and undermines the body’s natural ability to co-ordinate its functions and heal and maintain itself.

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM BSR?

Body Stress Release is suitable for young and old alike.

The technique is so gentle that new-born babies with colic and restless sleep patterns, or elderly people who may be frail or have conditions like osteoporosis, will all benefit from BSR.

The majority of people initially consult a BSR practitioner for pain relief and to improve flexibility. Examples could include lower back ache and stiffness, leg or abdominal pain, upper back and shoulder aches, neck pain and headaches, various types of stress or even sporting injuries.

After Body Stress Release there is usually amelioration or relief from a wide range of ailments and a general improvement in wellbeing.

The positive effect of
BSR on Mums-To-Be

During pregnancy, women may experience uncomfortable pressure on their lower back and pelvis area. This irritation to the nerve supply to the legs, may cause:

Pelvic pain
Restless legs
Decreased mobility as the bump grows in the womb
Lower back pain

BSR relieves pressure and pain
and helps the body to relax again.

Regular BSR sessions throughout the pregnancy can also play a crucial role in preparing the body for birth by minimising compression of the lumbar vertebrae and improving communication between the nerves in the entire pelvic area.
